The Skinnygirl Tea Party

There’s nothing we love more than getting dressed up and throwing a party with friends. That’s why throwing a tea party is one of our favorite things to do in the summertime. It’s just the right amount of fancy and fun. Here are the things you need to throw one of these elegant affairs, the Skinnygirl way.

Send Invitations

One of the best parts of fancy parties is receiving an invitation in the mail! If you’re the artsy type, use your skills to add a personal, hand-written touch to the notes. Your guests will appreciate the cute gesture and get even more excited for the occasion.

Set the Scene

You don’t have to live at the Plaza Hotel to give your party the touch of class it deserves. Simple solutions include adding tablecloths and flower arrangements to each table. If you don’t already have a china set, you can find some really pretty sets at your local antique store. It won’t break the bank and it’s another touch that will give your guests the best experience possible.

Make the Menu

The key to a great tea party is, of course, a lot of tea! Purchase a variety of blends that include flavors from all over the world. English, Japanese and fruit-flavored teas are usually great options. Make sure to have plenty of Skinnygirl Liquid Sweeteners on hand so your guests can sweeten tea their way! We recommend putting a few on each table so you give them the opportunity to try them all.

If it’s warm outside, you may want to give your guests the option of a cold drink. Try making a pitcher of Skinnygirl’s Iced Tea (recipe below) it’s a cool and refreshing way to enjoy the tea party!

As far as the food options go, it wouldn’t be a proper tea party without tea sandwiches. Cucumber, egg salad, cheese or turkey sandwiches are standard options that never disappoint. You can include some delicious scones and cookies as well to satisfy your guests’ sweet cravings.

Dress the Part

Once all the planning is done, it’s time for the best part: dressing up! Think big floppy hats, floral print dresses and maybe even some Hepburn-style gloves! If you and your guests dress the part, you’ll feel the part. Enjoy and keep those pinkies up!
